Johnson House Welcome Center
The Johnson House, located at 80 Division Street in Cathlamet, will become the home of WHEELhouse and a welcoming place for community gatherings and visitors.
WHEELhouse is working to restore and activate the historic house as a welcome center, meeting space, and starting point for exploring Cathlamet’s heritage places.
The Johnson House will serve as:
a Welcome Center for residents and visitors
a Meeting Space for community groups
a Hub for the emerging heritage campus, linking Main Street, the waterfront, the museum, Strong Park & Birnie Creek, and the Julia Butler Hansen House
As restoration and planning continue, the Johnson House will become a visible place where community partnerships, events, and heritage projects

Photo by David Hansen from 1978 when the house was in good repair and well cared for. The county removed the tree in the foreground in about 2024. Our intention is to restore the house to resemble this image.
